London Fashion Week for economists!

This week is London Fashion Week.

But whart does fashion contribute to the economy? Here are some useful starting points for finding out more.

The British Fashion Council commisisoned from Oxford Economics. some data which included - the figure that the  fashion industry directly contributed £32.3billion to the UK GDP in 2017
The Creative Industries website has some data from UK government reports on the sector which cover the economics, exports and employment
Other sources include the Mayor of London website which has datat on creative industries in London in 2017. 
the Office for National Statistics has some recent data on the number of SMEs in the fashion industry sector. It also has the count, employment and turnover of VAT and/or PAYE based enterprises in Parliamentary constituencies for UK SIC classes defining the Fashion Industry. Data as at March 2016.
However recently the Fashion Industry roundtable expressed concerns about the possible impact of Brexit.



Mckinsey Business of Fashion report has some data on the trends and markets in the world wide fashion market.
